On Oct. 15, the Henderson Fire Fighters Benevolent Association presented a donation check to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson during the clubs' Fun Day for Kids, an annual indoor-outdoor event for 7- to 12-year-olds who are Boys & Girls Clubs members.
The check was composed of funds raised during this year's Jeff Mann Memorial Golf Tournament, which was held on April 29. The annual tournament is held in memory of Jeff "The Pirate" Mann, a fallen Henderson professional firefighter. Mann was deeply involved and committed to the success of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson, and the proceeds from the golfing event are donated each year to charity in his honor.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson operates through several facilities in Southern Nevada, serving youth in Henderson, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Southern Highlands. The goal of the organization is to provide children with the essential tools needed for a successful, bright future through a variety of daily educational programs.
The Fun Day for Kids event is held to give children, many from single-parent families, the opportunity to participate in games and activities, enjoy a barbecue and have the chance to win prizes donated by individuals and businesses within the community.
The Henderson Professional Fire Fighters are a full-service fire and rescue department that is committed to the community, not only through its level of service but also through charitable outreach efforts.
