The Henderson Police Department has partnered with AlertID to help residents protect their neighborhoods by supplying them with up-to-date information through online tools.

AlertID-My Neighborhood uses software to create a dialogue between residents, neighbors and police. Residents constantly are connected with local, state and federal agencies to exchange vital information that can help keep their families and communities safe. The Henderson Police Department is the first law enforcement agency in Southern Nevada to have this software available to its residents.

The best crime prevention is an active community looking out for each other," said Jutta Chambers, Henderson police chief.

Real-time information will be provided to residents on reported criminal activity in their neighborhoods through text messages and emails by the Henderson Police computer-aided dispatching.

"I would encourage all Henderson residents to sign up for this free online service that can truly keep our neighborhoods safer," said Chambers. "This is a powerful tool to get residents involved in looking after their families and their neighbors."

According to Keith Paul, spokesman for the Henderson Police Department, AlertID is a great way to use social media to link residents with their neighbors and start a neighborhood watch.

This softwarecurrently is available and 5,000 residents already have signed up at cityofhenderson.com/police.

This is a non-emergency message but I feel it needs to be checked into. There has been a grey Toyota Avalon sedan parked on Carmel Valley for over two weeks with the license plate: 530 WUK
    Maybe stolen or abandon?
